LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaison

The purpose of Lambertville City Police Department’s LGBTQ+ liaison is to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the LGBTQ+ community. The department is committed to ensuring the safety, protection, and equality of life for all citizens. We respect and appreciate the diversity of our community and feel all individuals should feel confident when reporting crimes. The liaison officer in this position will provide guidance and resources to the community, help create an inclusive workplace, and work closely with community members to discuss any LGBTQ+ related issues. As a demonstration of this continued commitment, we have partnered with Garden State Equality, as well as law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Jersey, to bring this important resource to Lambertville.

The New Jersey LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaisons group currently consists of over 100 police officers, who are employed by a variety of law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Jersey. Despite the wide range of assignments and varying jurisdictions, all of the liaisons share the common goal of fostering positive relationships between the LGBTQ community and law enforcement.

The mission of the LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaison team is to ensure trust and promote a positive working relationship between law enforcement and the LGBTQ community through education and community outreach efforts. Moreover, the LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaisons serve as a direct point of contact, partnering with community stakeholders and other government officials, to provide an internal resource and support to other law enforcement personnel, and to bridge any gaps that may exist between law enforcement and the community in which they serve.

For more information regarding this program, additional resources for members of the community, or requests for participation in specific community outreach events, please feel free to contact Ptl. Henry Zilliox or Lt. Robert Brown, via email at [email protected], [email protected] or by phone at (609) 397-3132
